Right now I am not doing the most important things. The current projects are pet ones for killing time; they won’t matter to brand building. I should get them done soon and never waste time on this kind of trivial ideas.
For now treat them as writing exercises. Although they have little intellectual value, pushing them through by good writing can actually test how incompetent our profession is. Sadly, if you size them up—even the mediocre ones—you can get your way.
Still, there are ideas that are both intellectually challenging and practically impactable. Focus on these kind of ideas. For that to work, I must override the external value system with my own.
Ultimately, what matters is what I value, not others.
